The Beach Boys is an American rock band formed in 1961 in Hawthorne, California. The band was founded by the three Wilson brothers (Carl, Brian and Dennis), their cousin Mike Love and their close friend, Al Jardine. Brian Wilson is the leader, composer, arranger and producer of the band right from the first albums and singles. Initially, The Beach Boys were managed by Murry, the father of the Wilson family.
After signing a recording contract with Capitol Records in mid-1962, the Wilson boys wrote more than 20 hit songs, including “Surfin’ Safari”, “Surfin’ USA”, “Surfer Girl”, Little Deuce Coupe”, “Be True to Your School”, “In My Room”, “Fun, Fun, Fun”, “I Get Around”, “Dance Dance Dance”, “Help Me Rhonda” and “California Girls”.
The songs turned the music into a phenomenon at that time and helped them quickly become famous. Crossing the California border, they quickly took advantage of the situation throughout the United States with speeches. By the mid-60s, The Beach Boys were completely shaped by Brian Wilson. In 1966, Brian released the legendary album Pet Sounds (ranked 2nd on Rolling Stone magazine’s list of “500 Greatest Albums”), along with the famous author “Good Vibrations” (ranked 1966). 6 on the same magazine’s list of “500 Greatest Songs” placing the band among the best artists in music history.
The rock band are often called “America’s band”. Allmusic called The Beach Boys “The most accomplished rock band, America’s first, and its best”. Hollow Stone ranked The Beach Boys 12th on its “Top 100″ list. Greatest Artist” in 2004, the highest position for a rock band from the US. According to unofficial figures, the band has sold more than 100 million records since 1961. Brian Wilson, Carl Wilson, Dennis Wilson, Mike Love and Al Jardine were all inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last year. 1988.
The Beach Boys have announced the schedule for their massive 2024 “Endless Summer Gold” Tour. The expansive trek, which is scheduled to begin with a show at the Hawaii Theatre in Honolulu on February 21st, will see the band perform at several celebrated venues and festivals, including the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival in New Orleans, Stagecoach in Indio, Wolf Trap in Vienna, the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, and the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville.
